Through my art, I attempt to come to terms with my inherent need to make and to collect in an effort to better understand my personal heritage. I relish nostalgia. I am fascinated with the way we store memories in objects and the way an object can elicit an intensely private, visceral experience. However, I am also conflicted by nostalgia because memory is unreliable. Through assemblage, installation, and vessel-making I explore notions of family, memory, and my own past while recognizing the incongruous nature of remembering. My art is a practice in examining and retelling.
